As a currently enrolled degree or credit-seeking student or faculty, you have access to reserving suites at The New School. Find the answers you need with this FAQ. 

How can I reserve an Arnhold Hall suite? 

You can reserve a suite by agreeing to the guidelines and reserving a suite through Webcheckout.  


Where are Audio and Video suites available at the New School? 

Audio and Video reserve suites are exclusively available at Arnhold Hall 55 W 13th St, 8th flr. 


Who can reserve Arnold Hall suites? 

Degree or credit-seeking students who are currently registered and faculty. 

  • Students can reserve one suite at a time. The currently active reservation has to end or be canceled to make another reservation. 

  • Faculty can make and have multiple reservations at the same time, for different suites or for the same suite. If reserving suites for a class, you can get assistance from the LSO staff at lso@newschool.edu


What can my reservations include? 

Audio suites or Video suites, or the i818-Voiceover booth. 


How far in advance should I reserve an Arnhold Hall suite? 

At least six hours of lead time are required to create, modify, or cancel a reservation. 

By Friday, if requesting special weekend access.


How long can an Arnhold Hall suite be reserved? 

Up to six hours 


Can I stay past my reservation time? 

Reservations may only be made during our operating hours listed here. If you'd like to stay past your reservation end time, ask the reception staff to make sure there is no reservation starting after the end of yours. 


When must I return all in-house equipment? 

You must return all in-house equipment in person 30 minutes before the lab closes. Wait while the staff tests the equipment. This may take up to 30 minutes. After testing, the staff member and you will both initial the contract. You may request a copy for your records. 

Any missing or damaged item is noted and investigated. If the investigation determines you are clearly at fault, you will be notified to repair or replace the item(s). Until you do, you will be restricted from making reservations. 


Is training available for the suites? 

You should have prior knowledge of the suite requested. No training is provided. To assist you, there is work flow information available on-site. 


Am I supposed to sign in to use the suites? 

Yes, present your valid New School ID, and check in at Arnhold Hall, 8th (10am - 6pm) or 9th floor Equipment Center (EQC) to record your attendance and be granted access to the suite.


What happens if I am late for my reservation time? 

There is a 30-minute grace period past your start time. If you are more than 30 minutes late, your reservation is canceled and the suite may be released to other users. 


What should I do when checking out in-house equipment? 

You are fully responsible for in-house equipment. Check all items and test them thoroughly before signing the contract. If any item is missing or problematic, alert the staff, who will replace it or make a note on the contract. No insurance is provided by the university. 


I am TNS faculty and need a suite for my course 

You can make a reservation through the portal for a single reservation or for multiple days. 
You can have multiple reservations for multiple suites at the same time.

I am TNS faculty and need to book i820-Audio03 with the i821 classroom 

i820-Audio03 and the i821 classroom are available as a single reservable item using the reservation system (Webcheckout). You cannot reserve these rooms separately.
