Understanding Print Points

The university uses a Print Point charge system to help curb waste and support the sustainability efforts of the university while allowing you to print your course assignments. 

Print Points can be Allocated or Purchased. 

Allocated Print Points

Open Campus/Non-credit students and Alumni may purchase a print card in any of the campus libraries to print. 

• When are Print Points allocated? All Print Points are allocated automatically at the start of the semester. 
• Unused Allocated Print Points: Are carried over between semesters, up to a maximum of 300 Allocated Print Points. 
• Where do Allocated Print Points come from? Allocated Print Points carry no monetary value. They DO NOT come from student tuition or any university fees, and are therefore NOT reimbursable. 
• Why is it 150 print points? The 150 print point amount of the allocation per semester was decided by and agreed upon by all departments at The New School.

* This allocation amount may be less if you have more than 150 left accumulated from previous semesters. (i.e., if you have 200 left from summer, you will be allocated 100 Print Points in fall instead of 150 to account for the maximum of 300.

You may need to scroll down on the right of the widget to reach the lower part where the Purchase Print Points link is.

Purchase Print Points

You can​​​​ purchase print points in increments of $5.00 to $100.00.
Print Points are purchased at a 1-to-1 ratio: $5.00 = 5 Print Points.
There is no limit to how many Purchased Print Points can be purchased for academic purposes.  
All unused Purchased Print Points carry over between semesters (can be in excess of the 300 Allocated Print Points). 

When graduating or separating from the university

Graduating Students

• Allocated Print Points will expire upon conferral of the degree. 
• Purchased Print Points will expire upon conferral of the degree. 
• Allocated Print Points are not eligible to be refunded. 
• Purchased Print Points are not eligible to be refunded. 
• Caution should be used when buying Purchased Print Points. 

Faculty and Staff 

• Allocated Print Points will expire upon separation. 
• Purchased Print Points will expire upon separation. 
• Allocated Print Points are not eligible to be refunded. 
• Purchased Print Points are not eligible to be refunded. 
• Caution should be used when buying Purchased Print Points.
