Body

Meeting Summary with Zoom AI Companion uses AI technology, which may include third-party models, and allows meeting hosts to initiate an AI-generated summary of their meeting. When the host enables this feature in a meeting, participants may automatically receive a summary after the meeting ends, if the host chooses to share it with them.

Meeting Summary with AI Companion has the following limitations:

  • If you do not set your pronouns or choose not to share them in the meeting, the pronouns chosen by the Large Language Model (LLM) will be used instead when referring to you.

  • Meeting Summary with AI Companion is not available within breakout rooms.

How to start Meeting Summary

You can start or stop Meeting Summary through the in-meeting controls for meetings you host. Meeting Summary only begins when the host or co-host clicks Start summary.

  1. Start a meeting from the Zoom desktop app.

  2. On the in-meeting controls, click AI Companion.
The meeting summary will begin to be generated and meeting participants will see a notification informing them that AI Companion is active and a disclaimer (Note: the host will not see the disclaimer).

  3. (Optional) Click AI Companion, then Stop AI Companion to stop summary generation.

After the meeting has ended, the summary will be finalized and sent out based on the host’s account settings.

Request enablement during a meeting

If the host does have Meeting Summary enabled for their meetings, any meeting participants can request that it be started for the current meeting.

  • The host will receive an in-meeting request to start Meeting Summary for the current meeting.

If the host does not have AI Companion enabled, this feature will not be available.

  1. While in a meeting, In the meeting control toolbar, click AI Companion.
Note: If Meeting Summary is not currently enabled for the meeting, the participant will be prompted to request feature enablement.

  2. Click Ask host.
The request will be sent to the host.

How to view the meeting summary

Only hosts and co-hosts have access to meeting summaries via email. Anyone who receives the meeting summary may save and share it with apps and others. The account owner can access the meeting summary.

View email summary

Once a meeting summary is available, a copy of it is provided through email. If continuous meeting chat is disabled for the meeting with the corresponding meeting summary, the summary is only shared this way.

  1. Log in to your New School Gmail account with your New School NetID and password.

  2. Select the email with the same subject as the meeting topic to view the summary.

  3. (Optional) In the body of the email, click Edit Summary Here.

    • You will be prompted to sign in to your Zoom account (if you are not already) to continue editing the summary through the web portal.

    • Note: Only the host has the Edit Summary Here option.

Notes:

  • Unauthenticated users will not receive an email summary, as no email address was associated with their presence in the meeting.

Supported languages for Meeting Summary with AI Companion

Meeting Summary can summarize meeting discussions in several languages. If more than one language is spoken in the meeting, the generated summary will be provided in the language used by the majority of participants, or the host’s speaking language if there is no clear majority.
