Download FortiClient VPN Software
After you have requested access to the VPN and have taken the Information Security Awareness training course, IT Central will send you the VPN download.
Install the FortiClient VPN Software
If you get a message that FortiClient failed to install you may already have a version of FortiClient installed on your device. You will have to uninstall the old FortiClient by following these steps.
WINDOWS USERS: those with Windows devices may experience one of the two install prompts.
Using the VPN
Once you have successfully installed FortiClient you will then be able to sign in to use the VPN.
- Open the FortiClient Application
- Select VPN Connection
- You can access the VPN from within or outside of the United States. When connecting, select the VPN name based on your location.

- Enter your NetID (username) and New School password
- Click "Connect"
- This will send a request to send the Duo 2-step login request to the default authentication device you have enrolled with Duo 2-step using these steps.
- If you have Duo push set up, open the Duo mobile app on your phone to approve the request.
- If you do not receive a Duo push, you can use the Duo passcode option by entering a comma and the 6-digit passcode shown in your Duo mobile app right after your password in the password field when logging in (step 3).
- Once you have allowed the request you will then be connected to the VPN.
