Signing in with Single Sign On

Single Sign-On (SSO) allows you to access many New School services using one set of log in credentials. To keep your information secure, the university requires the use of Duo multi-factor authentication when accessing systems that contain sensitive data. This ensures that even if your password is compromised, a second step of verification is required to prevent unauthorized access.

Starting in mid-May and throughout the remainder of 2026, the university will be transitioning all services requiring SSO login to a new log in experience. During this period, the current log in process and the new log in process will run in tandem as systems are gradually updated. As a result, you may encounter different log in screens depending on the service you are accessing, and you may be asked to sign in using either your NetID or your full New School (NetID@newschool.edu) email address. Your full email address will become the authentication standard across all university systems with SSO when the transition is completed.

The "Current" Experience:
Uses the traditional log in look and requires your NetID and password.
Classic SSO login experience
The "New" Experience:
An updated interface that requires your full (NetID@newschool.edu) email address that will eventually become the standard for all university systems. Email alias are not supported.

New Duo experience

Enter email address (NetID@newschool.edu)

Regardless of which version you see, your enrolled Duo devices and authentication methods will remain the same.

Additional Info:

  • If you completely exit the browser, all your single sign-on information will be forgotten, and you’ll have to sign in again.

  • If you sign in using one browser, and then start up a different browser, the second browser will not know that you’re signed in (because browsers don’t share information), so you’ll have to sign in again.
